Welcome, Guests

At Bonhomme, our mission is to grow a flourishing community that is making disciples of Jesus Christ. We have focused three of our ministries on doing just that. No matter your age or stage in life, we hope that you feel genuinely welcome here and are able to grow in your discipleship of Jesus.

FAQs

When do you worship?

We have Traditional Worship on Sundays at 8:30 am and 11 am in our Sanctuary. Contemporary Worship is held also at 11 am on Sundays in Steffen Hall. Although our formal worship occurs on Sunday, we also hold Wednesday evenings as a special part of our week. On Wednesdays we offer small groups, music rehearsals,  Student Ministry Refuge, culminating in a big old-fashioned church dinner where everyone gathers together to enjoy a meal.

What is the difference between traditional and contemporary worship services?

On Sundays, regardless of which worship service you attend, you will hear a sermon message rooted in the Bible and sharing the words of Jesus. The sermon will likely be similar. The difference?  Our Traditional Worship is in a more formal, sanctuary setting with organ and piano, often with our Bonhomme Chancel Choir singing hymns and giving praise to Jesus. Our members that attend Traditional Worship gather together in their Sunday best to pray and reflect in a formal Order of Service. Contemporary Worship takes place in the less-formal setting of Steffen Hall. Christian praise music is led by our Praise Band and the atmosphere is come-as-you-are casual.

Where do I park?

In general, if you prefer to attend Traditional Worship in our Sanctuary, we suggest you park in the lot that is adjacent to Conway Road. If you are attending Contemporary Worship in Steffen Hall, please park in the lot adjacent to Highway 64/40.

What do I wear?

The true answer is: anything you’d like. We always say that God doesn’t care what you’re wearing. However, if you would like to plan your outfit around what others worshiping with you will be wearing, then, it’s safe to say that individuals who attend Traditional Worship typically are dressed in “business casual” attire while those who attend Contemporary Worship are dressed casually.

What happens in between services?

Coffee, fellowship… and Growth Hour! What is Growth Hour? Well, in essence, it’s what we’ve traditionally called “Sunday School.” However, here at Bonhomme, we want our members to understand that the hour in between services (starting at 9:45 am ) is a blessed opportunity to grow in our knowledge of the Bible and our love for Jesus. It also helps us unite with a group of people who may have similar wants and needs, dreams and aspirations or are traveling at the same point in their lives. Whether you are two or ninety-two (yes, our Children’s Ministry Kids of the Kingdom classes are offered beginning at age TWO)  we have classes we hope you enjoy. For a full list of classes, click HERE.

What typically happens after worship?

Coffee, fellowship. If you’re an early bird who attends the 8:30 am worship service, please see above. If you’re wondering what happens after 11 am worship services, then it typically depends on the Sunday. We have Monthly Community Potlucks in Kilby Commons. Sometimes our Men’s Fellowship team hosts barbecues with hamburgers and hotdogs. Our students (and some older-than-student types) can play a pick-up game of basketball on our SportCourt in the Park RecPlex. Generally, it’s a time to catch up on the week’s happenings with your church family.

How do I handle my noisy toddler during worship?

Well, you can handle your toddler in a variety of ways. We love the joyful noise of children during worship. As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me…” Your children (noisy or slumbering) are always welcome during worship at Bonhomme. If you prefer to worship without your little one(s), then we do offer childcare during worship (and Growth Hour) for children starting at six months of age. Our childcare providers are loving, caring members of Bonhomme who volunteer for our ministry. For details, click HERE

How can my children and teens get involved?

Bonhomme is truly a multigenerational church. We offer opportunities for all ages to grow in faith. However, as parents, we might have a different perspective when joining a church. We want more for our coming-of-age children and we want a firm foundation of faith for them. Our Children’s Ministry and Student Ministry are strong and thriving, with classes, events and mid-week studies. Our 11 am services have a special sermon message for children, who are led to our Grow and Go Zone to hear an age-appropriate sermon that they understand, is relevant to them and helps them apply the Bible to their lives.
