Zoom in on Others, Not Yourself

When you’re in Zoom meetings, there’s a little square that has your own picture on it. And I found myself, that when I was in Zoom meetings, I would look at my own face. I though this was the weirdest thing that I kept looking at myself in this camera. It was distracting me from focusing on other people, and what they were saying, and the work that we were actually trying to get done.

I’ve been spending alot of time in my backyard. There’s something about this season, I love Spring of course, but this current season when we are cut off from one another, there is a lot of devastation, people are dying, I find myself drawn to nature.

These are tough times. With the COVID-19 pandemic many churches are not in a position to thrive as Bonhomme is. Many churches are closing. Many churches are in crisis. Though we are sad and disappointed that so many classes, programs–and even in-person worship– have been postponed or canceled, Bonhomme is still able to positively impact our church family and our St. Louis community. Because of your dedication and faithful giving, good things are happening at Bonhomme.

I’m here to get honest with you. In this whole season with the virus and the disruption and the changes and the loss and the unprecedented circumstances that we find ourselves in, I’ve been pretty dizzied by all of this this. I’ve been back on my heels not really knowing how to respond. I don’t have muscle memory. Probably like all of this; this is unprecedented and I’ve struggled with how to respond well in my job. I’ve struggled how to respond well as a father, and as a husband and a son. I’ve struggled with how to faithfully respond in the moment as a disciple of Jesus. Early on… I’ve been struggling.
