Sharing Christ’s Love in St. Louis and Around the World

At Bonhomme, we seek to be sent out to love, bless, and serve others in Jesus’ name. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we embody the Good News of Jesus in West County, get involved in God’s restoring work in the City of St. Louis, and as we are sent to other countries as agents of God’s mercy, justice, and grace. We invite you to explore these pages to get a taste of how God is at work in our urban and international mission partnerships.

Mission Partner Needs during the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Mission Ministry will continue to send the regular monthly disbursements to our mission partners during the current pandemic.  Liaisons for each mission partner have conveyed this information to their respective directors.

While this offers some reassurance of sustained regular monthly funding, our mission partners are facing many crucial concerns/needs. Listed below is information on those concerns/needs. If you are able and willing to assist in any of these pressing needs, please contact the liaison for the respective mission.

Please pray for the directors, ministry staff/volunteers, and the families that each ministry is serving.

Isaiah 58: Liaison: Cyndy Fleissner 314.603.0243
There is the continued and increased need for Meal A Month items. Leave items in the plastic bin outside the door facing Conway Road. Food will be taken inside by volunteers and then collected by Isaiah 58 staff.  Isaiah 58 also welcomes monetary donations if you are unable to drop off items.

Haven of Grace: Liaison: Sue Cox 314.322.5790
Since the Mother’s Day Luncheon fundraiser was $35K of the Haven’s budget for this fiscal year, we had to find a way to salvage it, therefore we are doing a virtual Mother’s Day Appeal.  The site is “live” now and persons can begin donating to the appeal.  It will be live on our Facebook page on May 13 beginning 11:30. Mandy Murphy will be our honorary chair, there will be live entertainment and we are scheduled to have some speakers.   We are trusting that our efforts will be rewarded.

Oasis: Liaison: Joan Brown 314.413.2675
Oasis continues to try to support refugees in our region.  It does have some needs right now: remote volunteer opportunities:
  1. Help refugees fill out unemployment forms.  This can be very difficult and confusing for them.  It would all be done over the phone.
  2. Deliver diapers to front porches (after April 16).
  3. Deliver Easter cards to front porches – with Aldi’s gift certificate, toilet paper, and cloth face masks

Restore: Liaison: Robin Oldfield 314.956.9476
They have gone from serving 1000 meals, breakfast and lunch, a day two weeks ago to 1800 currently.  Obviously, their infrastructure/volunteers/financial resources are being severely tested. Although Umetulisha, the food ministry, does receive government funding for some of their expenses, there is a lag receiving the monies owing to such a rapid increase in need.  Exacerbating this is the Ferguson-Florissant and Riverview School Districts cancelling their meal programs.  Restore welcomes monetary donations to bridge this gap.
phone caller (check in on seniors with regular phone calls)
driver (to deliver food and meds)
food assembler (be part of assembling meals)
prayer warrior (add my name to prayer list for RSL ministries)
financial giver (donate at any level)
The Annual Restore St. Louis Dinner has been rescheduled to October 8.

Inside Out Prison Ministry: Liaison: John Hall 314.422.6444
Taylor Bruce is using the time to train volunteers who would normally be in the jails.   Due to the shelter at home order and fears of the virus spreading, all volunteer activities at the jail have been stopped which means that contact between those inside and us on the outside has been extremely minimized.
It has become especially necessary for us to keep in contact with our men and women through letter writing.  If you’d like to bless these men and women through this work, you can email Annie Schone, our letter writing coordinator.

Comfort Foundation: Liaison: Mary Gosney  314.396.3329
Prayers for the Comfort Foundation staff and kids, as they are experiencing social distancing and shelter as we are.  Protection and health for all, and that they can so get back to ministering to the kids.
