Who We Are
The Foundation is an independent non-profit corporation governed by a Board of Trustees who are members of Bonhomme Presbyterian Church. Founded in 2002, The Foundation was formed to manage an endowment fund used to promote Christ-centered organizations that spread the Gospel and care for the less fortunate.
How Do I Give?
You can support The Bonhomme Foundation through various ways:
- Birthday Fund: Give $1 for each year of your age or the age of a family member or friend. Envelopes specifically for the Birthday Fund are located at the Connection Center and the Guest Kiosks outside the Sanctuary and Steffen Hall.
- Legacy Planning:
- Life Insurance: It is possible to purchase a life insurance policy on your life or the life of your spouse and name The Foundation as the beneficiary. When the end of life comes, the death benefits are paid to The Foundation. An existing policy or a newly purchased policy can be used.
- Estate Planning: The Foundation can be included in your will and/or trust as a recipient for a portion of your estate. This is a gift that will keep on giving long after you have passed.
- Charitable Remainder Trusts: This trust is a way to make a future gift to The Foundation while receiving income during your lifetime. You can designate yourself or others as the income recipient. At the termination of the trust [either by death or a set term of years] the remaining trust assets are used to support the work of The Foundation as you designate.
- Appreciated Securities: Gifts of appreciated securities may offer the benefits of reduced tax liability while furthering a charitable goal. Using appreciated securities which you have held for over one year to make a charitable gift may avoid the long-term capital gains tax and possibly allow you to deduct the full fair market value of the stock.
- Real Estate: Sizeable capital gains often occur when property that has been held for many years is sold. This can provide unique gift opportunities regardless of whether it has increased or decreased in value. An outright gift of real estate may result in tax savings since you will receive a charitable income tax deduction for the appraised value of the property. Capital Gains Tax may be avoided if The Foundation sells the property.
- Cash Gifts: A gift of cash, marketable securities, or other investments can be made to The Foundation at any time. Most gifts will qualify for an immediate income tax deduction.
- Charitable Gift Annunity: This annuity is a popular option that may address your current income needs and complement your estate stewardship plan. In exchange for your irrevocable gift, The Foundation agrees to pay you and/or your loved one a fixed payment for life. Payments usually begin within months of the gift date; however, they may be deferred to a later date when a greater need for more income is anticipated.
